Round 1 of Chemo is Complete

He did it.  He survived week 1!!!  And, like a champ, might I add!   I ran by the local bakery and picked up this cake real quick after work Friday night as a HOORAH!.... the little girl running the bakery gave me an odd look when I asked her to put "You kicked ass!" on the cake.... I think it's quite fitting, wouldn't you say?

The entire week was touch and go.  We weren't sure how he would react.  As it turns out, it was nothing compared to what would come once the steroids from the week began to wear off....

This weekend proved to be quite miserable for him.  He was very achy and fidgety.... very sore... and I felt completely helpless.  Today is a day he's been dreading all week.  Today is the day he has to get the Neulasta shot, which is an injection given to chemo patients after their treatment to boost their white blood count production.  We've been warned that it will leave him with terrible bone and muscle pain.  I am praying it's not too unbearable for him... as he's already in quite a bit of discomfort.  :(
